Irene is a Senior Sensor Systems Engineer at Zoox, where she leads Systems Engineering activities for sensors.Irene’s focus is to guarantee that the sensor and compute solution will provide adequate performance to drive safely even in the most challenging scenarios and in the event of failures. Achieving this goal is a multidisciplinary effort touching diverse engineering disciplines, such as Hardware and Software Architecture, Functional Safety, Artificial Intelligence, Testing and Validation. Irene works on aligning different teams towards a single objective: deliver a safe mobility service. Before joining Zoox, Irene worked on sensors for autonomous systems in a special project group at Apple. Irene’s background is in Electrical Engineering, and she holds a Ph.D. from Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
