In his role as EU Chief Safety Engineer Dr. Wolfgang Freese is responsible for the development of safety concepts for Advanced Safety vehicle functions as well as the development of these into controller level safety concepts in accordance with autonomous levels and vehicle architectures. With his team of Safety Experts, FS Managers and FS Engineers he is also supporting customer projects regarding safety analysis activities and safety management.

During the last year of his PhD studies at the Institute for Plasma and Atomic Physics of the Ruhr University Bochum he came to APTIV as full-time Software Developer for Embedded C. In 2010 he joined the Functional Safety Coreteam. Eventually and after having taken several FS relevant roles he took over his current responsibility in January 2021.
